Development of a Microfluidic Hemodialysis Device Equipped with an Antifouling Nanoporous Dialysis Membrane
Abstract
This thesis presents a microfluidic hemodialyzer and an experimental platform and demonstrates that the performance of a polycarbonate membrane used in a continuous setting that can be comparable to commercial hollow-fibre hemodialyzers. This research provides a platform for the development of a continuous, wearable hemodialysis system that can provide adequate dialysis with the implementation of flow rates increased to that of a commercial system, and the employment of its modular design for an increased surface area.
